Los Angeles-based visual artist Tommy Lei presents Palm and Sky, a 4K audiovisual work rendered from an infrared photograph, in Hyperreality, a group exhibition exploring augmented reality at Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum. The piece is part of Dreams: In Motion, a series in which still photographs are given duration and breath — translated into moving image through a process that draws out the quiet glow living things carry beyond ordinary sight. Palm and Sky marks a continuation of Lei’s audiovisual installation practice, which pairs image with meditative sound and movement to invite a slower, more immersive form of attention.
