Everyday, Downtown LA (2021-2023)

Everyday, Downtown LA is a photographic series examining visibility in a city shaped by rapid transformation. The work centers on individuals who move through Downtown Los Angeles beyond the spectacle of redevelopment and vertical growth.

Raised in nearby Chinatown, I developed an early awareness of how certain bodies occupy space — often present, yet peripheral. This series reflects on that condition of partial visibility. Rather than monumentalize the city's architecture, the photographs attend to quieter presences: a woman waiting at a bus stop, a vendor preparing before dawn, a figure resting in early light, a wheelchair navigating fractured sidewalks.

The project considers how dignity persists within environments structured by acceleration and displacement — asking what it means to be seen within a city constantly remaking itself.
