Infrared Dreams is a body of work produced over nine years of sustained observation of the natural world — its unremarkable surfaces, and the luminous order that lies just beneath them.

Processed with infrared wavelengths that register beyond human vision, the photographs transform foliage, water, and open landscape into forms at once familiar and wholly altered. Leaves become radiant. Meadows ignite. The world appears alive — and within that aliveness, something quiet is revealed: an ecological permanence that exists independent of whether it is seen.

The work draws on the classical East Asian landscape tradition and the contemplative attention of the Tang dynasty poet Wang Wei, treating landscape not as subject but as condition — the space where human perception and natural time converge. Infrared Dreams does not document the natural world so much as attend to it, asking what remains when the visible gives way to what it has always held.

Several works in the series were made in Altadena, California, in 2024. Those landscapes no longer exist as photographed. The images remain.
